Earth Day '96: it's that time again ...

f your New Year's resolution is to help the environment, volunteer for a great cause or just to meet new people and have fun, come to the year's first San Diego Earth Day volunteer meeting:
Monday, January 22 at 7pm
Joyce Beers Community Center
1230 Cleveland St.
The Center is just off University Avenue in Hillcrest's Uptown District Shopping Center, by Canes California Bistro.
We'll show you the cool EarthFair slide show and tell you about all the ways you can help make every day Earth Day.
On Earth Day in April, millions of people look for something meaningful to do for the environment. In San Diego, more than 70,000 people are expected to attend San Diego Earth Day's seventh annual EarthFair in Balboa Park on Sunday, April 21, 1996 from 10am - 4pm.
Featuring more than 250 educational exhibits and five stages of entertainment, the EarthFair is the largest free environmental event in California. EarthFair is produced by more than 400 volunteers, managing the Earth Parade, parking bicycles, setting up exhibits, answering phones and separating recyclables.
San Diego Earth Day hosts activities year-round, and volunteers are needed before the EarthFair, too. Projects for 1996 include The Campaign for Sustainable Food Choices, the EARTHie (Environmental Action and Restoration That Helps) awards, the VIP (Very Important Planet) Reception, a silent auction and a breakfast for business leaders, as well as the EarthFair.
