Join San Diego Coastwalk
Walk and camp along San Diego coastline
oastwalk invites the public to join them in walking
sections of the California coast this summer. North-to-South costal walks
are planned for all 15 coastal counties. Participants will walk 6 to 8 miles
per day and camp at night. Meals and transportation of camping gear will
be provided by Coastwalk. The San Diego walk has been divided into two four
day sections separated by a free day. Naturalists are scheduled to interpret
the significant aspects of the areas to be explored.
The July 12th through 16th Coastwalk will focus on the
county's undeveloped northern part with long, open beaches and warm water
for swimming. There will be beautiful sunsets from state beach campgrounds.
A first for Coastwalk will be a stay at the Camp Pendleton Military Reserve
with its miles of open coastline.
The July 18th through 21st Coastwalk will include Torrey
Pines State Reserve, Scripps Institute of Oceanography, Cabrillo National
Monument, the San Diego waterfront, Hotel del Coronado, Tijuana Estuary
Reserve and Chula Vista Nature Center.
Coastwalk is a nonprofit statewide organization dedicated
to preserving public access to California's coastline. Advance registration
is required for these walks. For more information, call Debi at 445-1052
