An environmental weekend
Three ways to get involved on Oct 20 - 22
by Julaine Chattaway
here will be many ways this weekend to take action for
a clean, healthy and prosperous future. No matter where in San Diego you'll
be this weekend, you have many opportunites to get environmentally involved.
Whole Planet Expo - North County
Come celebrate the Whole Planet Perspective and experience San Diego businesses
that support a holistic, earth-friendly lifestylse! For a $5 admission you
can see over 200 exhibits and 40 informative lectures as well as listen
to progressive music all day long. This is San Diego's largest market for
holistic products and services all in one place.
The Expo takes place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, O'Brien
Pavillion. The Exposition hours are: Friday 2pm - 10pm, Saturday 10am -
10pm and Sunday 10am - 7pm. Happy holistic living!
2nd Annual YES Fest! - Downtown San Diego
San Diego Earth Day's second annual Youth Earth Savers Festival, YES Fest!,
will be held in conjunction with the Parent & Child Expo at the Convention
Center this year. Although this is a paid entrance event ($7, but discount
coupons saving $2 can be found at Ralph's and in The Union-Tribune), you
can expect to find a blend of family fun, interactive educational experiences
and family-oriented products and services.
The Expo appeals to the intelligence, creativity and
imagination of young children. By presenting topics such as ecology, science
and art in an entertaining and interactive forum, we can challenge children
and unlock their minds to unlimited possibilities. After all, these little
people are the future; it just makes sense to start them out caring for
our environment.
91X's Radioathon
On the FM airwaves Saturday, October 21 through Sunday, October 22, 91X
will turn into the "Save the World Radioathon." During these hours
you can bid on cool music memorabilia or call in to volunteer your time
for San Diego Earth Day's Restoration Projects throughout the community.
(See article at the left). For great music, memorabilia, fun and important
environmental info, stay tuned to 91X this weekend. Proceeds benefit San
Diego Earth Day's many efforts.
